Trial tests old malaria drug to cut steroid dependence in sarcoidosis

Summary
This study is testing if adding hydroxychloroquine (an anti-malarial drug) to treatment helps people with sarcoidosis affecting areas outside the lungs (like skin, eyes, or joints) reduce or stop their steroid medication. About 140 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either hydroxychloroquine or a placebo (inactive pill) in addition to their standard care. The main goal is to see if more people can be in remission and off steroids after 12 months with the added drug.
