First seen Jul 15, 2026 · Last updated Jul 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study creates a registry of up to 4000 people with primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma or biliary tract cancer) treated at San Raffaele Hospital. Researchers will collect medical records and, for some participants, biological samples to search for new biomarkers that could help better manage the disease. Participants are followed for up to 5 years. The study is observational and does not test any new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this registry could help identify new biomarkers that improve how liver cancer is diagnosed and managed.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it will not directly test any new therapy. The findings may take years to translate into clinical practice.
