Ultrasound before scope: a smarter way to treat pancreas and bile duct problems?

NCT ID NCT06978231

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at whether doing an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) right before a standard endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) helps doctors make better treatment decisions for people with pancreas or bile duct diseases. About 214 adults who have not had these procedures before will be randomly assigned to get either the combined approach or ERCP alone. The main goal is to see if the ultrasound changes the treatment plan and reduces unnecessary procedures.
