Can patients truly consent to research on surgery day?
NCT ID NCT07380035
Summary
This study investigated whether patients can give truly voluntary and informed consent for low-risk research on the same day as their surgery. Researchers compared patients who were asked to join a research study days before surgery versus those asked on the surgery day itself. After surgery, patients completed questionnaires about whether they felt pressured or coerced during the consent process.
