Bacteria army fights pancreatic cancer: new combo therapy shows promise

Summary
This study tests a new treatment called Saltikva, made from a weakened salmonella bacteria that carries a human immune-boosting gene. It is given by mouth along with standard chemotherapy to people with metastatic pancreatic cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. The goal is to see if adding Saltikva helps patients live longer and keeps the cancer from growing. About 60 adults with advanced pancreatic cancer are taking part.
