Spit test for strep throat could replace uncomfortable swabs for kids

NCT ID NCT05521568

Summary

This study tested whether a new, rapid saliva test could accurately diagnose strep throat in children. Researchers compared the saliva test results to the standard throat swab tests in 800 children aged 3-15 who visited their doctor with a sore throat. The goal was to see if a simple, less invasive saliva swab could be just as good at detecting the infection.
