Chest tube clogging: does heparin help?
NCT ID NCT06314620
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether using a heparin lock after flushing with normal saline keeps small chest tubes (used to drain fluid from around the lungs) from getting blocked better than flushing alone. About 40 adults with pleural effusion will take part. The goal is to find the best way to maintain tube function and reduce complications.
