First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether antibiotic eye drops are necessary after retinal surgery to prevent infection. 48 adults having retina surgery were enrolled and did not receive antibiotic drops after surgery, though they still used steroid drops to control swelling. The goal was to see if skipping antibiotics increased the risk of eye infection within 30 days.
