Simple additive could make Post-Surgery pain block safer

NCT ID NCT04959123

Summary

This study tested if adding a small amount of epinephrine (adrenaline) to a standard pain-block injection makes it safer for patients having bowel surgery. Researchers compared how much of the numbing drug ropivacaine entered the bloodstream when given with and without epinephrine in 40 patients. The goal was to see if this common practice actually reduces the risk of drug-related side effects by lowering peak drug levels in the blood.
