Finding the safest way to breathe before surgery
NCT ID NCT07380425
Summary
This study tested three different breathing techniques used right before surgery to see which one most quickly and safely boosts oxygen levels in obese patients. Researchers compared standard deep breathing to two methods that use gentle machine assistance, measuring how fast patients reached a safe oxygen level and whether the techniques caused uncomfortable stomach bloating. The goal was to find the best method to reduce the risk of low oxygen during anesthesia induction for this higher-risk group.
