New study aims to curb soldier suicides with remote coaching
NCT ID NCT07404787
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a 6-month remote case management program called Pathfinding for active-duty Army soldiers recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric care. Participants receive guidance via video or phone to set goals and connect with resources. The goal is to see if this extra support reduces suicide attempts and rehospitalizations compared to standard care alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Pathfinding (remote case management intervention)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a practical, scalable way to reduce suicide attempts and rehospitalizations among soldiers leaving inpatient psychiatric care.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-stage study with 1500 participants, so results may not apply to all soldiers. The intervention is behavioral and relies on participant engagement, which may vary.
