Heart ultrasound may uncover silent atrial fibrillation in thousands

NCT ID NCT07278089

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study is testing whether certain heart ultrasound results can identify people who have undiagnosed atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). About 3,000 participants with specific ultrasound findings will be randomly assigned to receive extended heart monitoring or usual care. The goal is to see if extended monitoring catches more cases of atrial fibrillation than standard care.
