Heart drug showdown: could a new combo pill help kids with weak hearts?
NCT ID NCT07197372
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tests whether a newer heart failure drug (sacubitril/valsartan) works better than an older one (captopril) in children aged 1 month to 18 years with dilated cardiomyopathy—a condition where the heart is enlarged and pumps weakly. About 70 children will receive one of the two medicines for 12 months, and doctors will measure changes in heart pumping strength using ultrasound. The goal is to find a more effective treatment to control the disease and improve heart function.
