First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving a small amount of s-ketamine during chest surgery can help prevent delirium (sudden confusion) in patients aged 60 and older. The trial involved 520 people having non-cardiac chest surgery. Researchers compared s-ketamine to another drug, dexmedetomidine, to see which worked better at reducing confusion after the operation.
