New study may spare some breast cancer patients from chemotherapy

NCT ID NCT07391774

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether hormone therapy plus a targeted drug (ribociclib) works as well as chemotherapy followed by the same hormone therapy for people with high-stage, estrogen-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer that has a low risk of coming back. About 1,978 postmenopausal women and men will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups. The goal is to see if skipping chemotherapy can maintain cancer control while reducing side effects.
