New hope for young transplant patients: drug combo aims to prevent deadly immune attack

Summary
This study tests whether adding the drug ruxolitinib to the usual two-drug regimen (tacrolimus and methotrexate) can better prevent graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in children and young adults (ages 2-22) undergoing bone marrow transplant for leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome. GVHD occurs when donor immune cells attack the patient's body. The trial will enroll 40 participants and monitor side effects and how well the combination prevents GVHD and relapse.
