New cream aims to tame painful skin disease in major trial

Summary

This study is testing whether a cream containing the drug ruxolitinib can safely reduce painful skin lumps and abscesses in people with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). About 400 participants with mild to moderate HS will apply either the active cream or a placebo cream to see which one works better. The main goal is to see if the cream can reduce the number of painful skin lesions by at least 75% without causing new draining sores.
