Blood test may replace heart scans for millions

NCT ID NCT04144725

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study is testing whether certain proteins in the blood can tell if a person has significant blockages in their heart arteries. About 1,000 adults with suspected coronary artery disease will have their blood tested and compared to results from a heart CT scan. If successful, this could lead to a simpler, faster way to rule out heart disease without needing imaging or invasive procedures.
