First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests a quality improvement program called 'Rule of THUMB' in African hospitals. The program uses checklists to help doctors assess bleeding risk before, during, and after C-sections, and to ensure proven treatments are given quickly. About 2,400 patients will take part. The goal is to see if the program improves care and reduces deaths from hemorrhage.

What this could lead to
If successful, this program could help hospitals in Africa better identify and treat dangerous bleeding during C-sections, potentially saving lives.
