Summary

This study tested whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) could help veterans with alcohol use disorder stay sober for 6 months. 49 veterans who were already in treatment for alcohol problems received either real or fake (sham) rTMS. The goal was to see if rTMS could reduce relapse rates, which are very high in this group.
