First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested two statin drugs, rosuvastatin and pravastatin, in 86 people with HIV who also had high cholesterol. The goal was to see which drug lowered LDL (bad) cholesterol better and was safer when taken with HIV medications. Participants took one of the two statins for 45 days, and researchers measured changes in cholesterol levels and side effects.

What this could lead to

If one statin works better, it could offer a safer, more effective way to manage cholesterol in people with HIV.
