Genetic clues could predict who benefits from head and neck cancer drug
NCT ID NCT01827956
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study examined whether certain gene variations (FCγRIIIA and FCγRIIA) influence how well the cancer drug cetuximab works in people with advanced head and neck cancers that have spread or come back. Researchers analyzed DNA from 121 participants to look for links between these genetic markers and treatment response. The goal was to find a way to predict which patients might benefit most from cetuximab, but the study did not test a new treatment or provide direct benefit to participants.
