Scientists investigate immune system clues to improve stem cell transplants
NCT ID NCT01520623
First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looked at 70 adults who had a stem cell transplant for blood cancer. Researchers wanted to see if a part of the immune system called the complement system is linked to a serious side effect called graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in the gut. By understanding this link, they hope to find ways to prevent GvHD without weakening the transplant's cancer-fighting power.
