Could a glaucoma eye drop also heal the cornea?
NCT ID NCT06960629
First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 29, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests whether a combination eye drop (netarsudil/latanoprost) can improve vision and reduce corneal thickness in people with glaucoma and a condition called pseudophakic bullous keratopathy, where the cornea swells after cataract surgery. Half of the 50 participants receive the active drops once daily for three months, while the other half receive placebo artificial tears. Researchers measure visual acuity and corneal thickness every two weeks to see if the drug helps.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Netarsudil/latanoprost eye drops
- What this could lead to
- If effective, these eye drops could offer a non-surgical way to improve vision and reduce corneal swelling in patients with glaucoma and pseudophakic bullous keratopathy.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 50 participants. The treatment may not prove better than placebo, and eye drops can cause irritation or redness.
