Robots vs. apathy: can talking machines rekindle motivation in dementia?

NCT ID NCT07404410

Summary

This study is testing whether using robots at home can help reduce apathy—a lack of motivation and interest—in people with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. Researchers will compare two types of robot interactions (a telepresence robot and a social robot) against standard occupational therapy to see which is better at improving engagement and quality of life. The goal is to find new, non-drug ways to support people with dementia and their caregivers.
