Robots take on breast cancer: a new era in surgery?
NCT ID NCT05490433
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study compares robot-assisted nipple-sparing mastectomy to the traditional open surgery for women with early-stage breast cancer (stage 0 to IIIa) who want immediate breast reconstruction. About 790 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two surgical methods. The goal is to see if the robot-assisted approach is as effective as the open approach in preventing cancer from coming back over five years.
