First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study compared two types of nerve blocks for pain relief in 60 adults with multiple broken ribs. One is a newer, easier technique called retrolaminar block (RLB), and the other is the standard paravertebral block (PVB). The goal was to see which provides better pain control and safety. Researchers measured total painkiller use in the first 48 hours after the block.
