Can a B-Cell blocker shrink prostate tumors before surgery?

NCT ID NCT01804712

First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This early-phase study tested whether giving rituximab (a drug that depletes B cells) before prostate removal surgery could reduce B cell levels in the tumor. Eight men with high-risk prostate cancer received four weekly doses before their scheduled prostatectomy. The main goal was to measure changes in B cell density in the removed prostate tissue, not to treat the cancer directly.
