ADHD drug tested to fight alcohol urges

NCT ID NCT07306078

Summary

This study is testing whether a single dose of the medication methylphenidate (Ritalin) can help young adults who misuse alcohol by reducing their cravings and brain reactions to alcohol-related pictures. Researchers will give participants either the medication or a placebo and use brain scans and computer tasks to measure changes. The goal is to see if briefly improving attention can help people better control their urge to drink.
