Can an ADHD pill curb alcohol cravings? early study investigates

NCT ID NCT06063200

Summary

This small, early-stage study aimed to understand if a single dose of methylphenidate (Ritalin) could change how people with both alcohol use disorder and ADHD react to alcohol-related images and cravings. Researchers gave 31 young adults either the medication or a placebo and used brain scans and behavioral tests to measure their attention and craving responses. The goal was to gather information to design a larger future study, not to provide treatment.
