Study reveals hidden danger in common colon polyps

NCT ID NCT07302139

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looked at nearly 3,000 people who had only non-advanced polyps (small, harmless-looking growths) during their first screening colonoscopy. Researchers tracked them over time to see if the number of these polyps affected their risk of developing advanced polyps or colorectal cancer later. The goal was to help doctors decide how often patients need follow-up colonoscopies.
