Scientists probe why common colds land kids in hospital
NCT ID NCT07342582
Summary
This study aims to understand how often and why common cold viruses (rhinoviruses) cause severe breathing problems that require children to be hospitalized. Researchers will follow healthy children in the community and compare them to children who are hospitalized with severe respiratory illnesses. By taking nasal swabs, they hope to find biological signals that show when a virus is causing serious symptoms versus a mild infection.
