Gene therapy shot could replace monthly eye injections for wet AMD
NCT ID NCT04514653
First seen Nov 16, 2025 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tests a gene therapy called RGX-314 as a potential one-time treatment for wet age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), a leading cause of vision loss. Currently, patients need frequent eye injections to control the disease. The trial involves about 146 participants and compares the gene therapy to standard ranibizumab injections. The goal is to see if RGX-314 can maintain vision with fewer treatments, though ongoing monitoring is still needed.
