New hope for severe brain clots: clot removal plus meds vs. meds alone

NCT ID NCT07548346

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether removing blood clots from brain veins (endovascular thrombectomy) plus standard blood thinners works better than blood thinners alone for people with severe cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). The trial will include 440 adults at high risk of poor outcomes. The main goal is to see if the procedure helps more people live independently after 12 months.
