Early eye injection trial for blindness disease finds no vision boost

NCT ID NCT02556736

Summary

This early-stage study tested the safety of a single injection into the eye for people with advanced retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disease that causes severe vision loss. It involved 14 adults with very poor vision to see if the treatment was safe and tolerable at different doses. The main goal was to check for serious side effects, and the study did not demonstrate that the treatment improved vision.
