Eye injection could spot hidden brain bleeding risk
NCT ID NCT05709314
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a dye called AMDX-2011P that is injected into the vein to see if it can light up amyloid deposits in the retina, which may indicate cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), a condition that raises the risk of brain bleeding. About 25 adults with CAA will receive a single dose and be monitored for safety and how well the dye works. The goal is to develop a simple eye exam as a non-invasive way to diagnose CAA.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AMDX-2011P (a dye injected into the vein to detect amyloid deposits in the retina)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple eye test to diagnose cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA), a brain blood vessel condition, without needing invasive procedures.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 25 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The dye might not reliably detect amyloid in the retina, or safety issues could arise.
