New study aims to boost lung cancer screening in black communities using restorative justice

NCT ID NCT07490860

First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether a decision-making tool based on restorative justice can help Black individuals decide to get screened for lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Black men and women, and screening can lower the death rate by 20%, but fewer Black people get screened. The tool is designed to build trust and address historical unfairness in healthcare. About 57 participants will take part to see if the tool is acceptable and increases screening knowledge.
