Breathing new life: rehab program tested for advanced lung cancer patients
NCT ID NCT06441773
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a respiratory rehabilitation program—including exercise training, breathing exercises, and education—can improve quality of life for people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who are on maintenance chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Researchers will compare 96 participants who receive the rehab program twice a week for 8 weeks to a control group receiving standard care. The main goal is to see if the program helps patients feel better and function in daily life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Respiratory rehabilitation (exercise training, breathing exercises, education)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that a structured breathing and exercise program helps people with advanced lung cancer feel better and manage daily activities more easily.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (96 people) comparing rehab to usual care. The benefits seen in other lung conditions may not apply here, and the program requires twice-weekly sessions that some may find hard to maintain.
