Could a simple monitor catch dangerous breathing slows before they happen?

NCT ID NCT03043911

Summary

This study tested whether adding a continuous breathing rate monitor to the standard oxygen and heart rate monitors could help detect breathing problems earlier. Researchers observed 87 adults who had surgery and were on opioid pain medication. The new breathing data was collected but hidden from doctors to see if it could have predicted issues before they became serious.
