Exercise may protect muscle health in transgender women on hormone therapy

NCT ID NCT07400419

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a 12-week home resistance exercise program can help transgender women and gender-diverse individuals starting estrogen-based hormone therapy maintain muscle mass and strength. Hormone therapy can increase the risk of muscle loss and weakness. The study will compare an exercise group to a group that only gets advice, measuring changes in muscle and fat. Results may show a simple way to improve long-term health.
