Teens with NF try video coaching to boost mood and health
NCT ID NCT03873610
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested two 8-week stress management programs delivered via secure video calls for 196 adolescents aged 12–17 with neurofibromatosis (NF1 or NF2). The goal was to see if these programs could improve emotional, social, and physical quality of life. Both programs taught coping skills for stress and NF symptoms, and the study measured changes using standard quality-of-life questionnaires.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Stress and symptom management programs (behavioral intervention via videoconferencing)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a practical, home-based way to help teens with neurofibromatosis better cope with stress and improve their quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a completed behavioral study, not a drug trial, so it won't change the underlying disease. Results may not apply to all teens with NF, and improvements may be modest or short-lived.
