Second look inside the kidney could save function for lupus patients
NCT ID NCT04449991
Summary
This study is testing whether performing a second kidney biopsy one year after starting treatment helps people with lupus nephritis. About 206 adults with a first episode of lupus-related kidney inflammation will be randomly assigned to either get this follow-up biopsy or receive standard care. The goal is to see if using the biopsy results to adjust treatment leads to better control of the kidney disease and preserves long-term kidney function.
