New combo procedure aims to stop AFib in its tracks

NCT ID NCT05116384

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a kidney nerve procedure (renal denervation) to the standard heart ablation can improve long-term control of persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib). About 50 adults with AFib and controlled or no high blood pressure will be randomly assigned to receive either standard ablation alone or ablation plus the kidney procedure. The goal is to see if the combination reduces the total time spent in AFib over the following year.
