First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looked at whether removing the nasogastric feeding tube right after taking out a breathing tube helps ICU patients start eating by mouth sooner. 112 adults who had been on a breathing machine for more than 48 hours took part. The goal was to see if early tube removal reduces swallowing problems and pneumonia.
