Money for sobriety: new app and breathalyzer tested to prevent relapse
NCT ID NCT03942770
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tests whether giving small cash rewards for sober breathalyzer readings, submitted via a smartphone app, can help people with alcohol use disorder stay sober after leaving a detox program. Researchers will compare relapse rates and hospital readmissions between those who get the rewards plus usual care and those who get usual care alone. The goal is to see if this remote monitoring approach is practical and effective for an underserved population.
