Researchers seek safer painkiller doses for fragile ICU patients
NCT ID NCT07301970
Summary
This study aims to understand how a common pain and sedation medication (remifentanil) behaves in the bodies of low-weight patients who are critically ill and on breathing machines. Researchers will measure drug levels in the blood and monitor patients' blood pressure and heart rate to learn how to dose this medication more safely in this vulnerable group. The study involves 45 adult ICU patients who require mechanical ventilation.
