Summary

This study checks whether heart rate and blood pressure readings taken from the finger or arm agree with standard chest measurements during a mild electrical stimulation of the ear. One healthy volunteer will be monitored at rest, during 10 minutes of ear stimulation, and during recovery. The goal is to see if simpler monitoring spots can be trusted for future research. No direct medical benefit is expected, but the findings may help improve how we track nervous system responses.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) device

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help researchers choose simpler, more reliable ways to measure how the nervous system responds to ear stimulation in future studies.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage study with only one participant, so results may not apply to others. The measurements may not match well across different body sites, limiting the usefulness of the approach.
