New trial tests drug options for rare autoimmune disease

NCT ID NCT06941376

Summary

This study is testing how well five different standard medications work to control relapsing polychondritis, a rare disease that causes painful inflammation in cartilage. Twenty adults with mild to moderate active disease will try different drug combinations in two stages, starting with methotrexate or azathioprine, and moving to stronger biologic drugs if needed. The main goal is to see how many patients achieve remission by 26 weeks while safely tapering off steroid use.
