Summary

This study tests whether a drink made with gum acacia and sea magnesium helps people rehydrate better than water after exercise. Twenty-four healthy, active men will exercise until dehydrated, then drink one of three beverages. Researchers will measure how much fluid their bodies retain.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

gum acacia and sea magnesium

What this could lead to

If it works, this could lead to a more effective rehydration drink for athletes.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study in healthy men, so results may not apply to others. The drink's effect on hydration has never been tested in humans before.
