Stroke recovery goes home: robot hand trainer could boost therapy without a therapist
NCT ID NCT07674238
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether stroke survivors can safely use a robot called ReHandyBot to exercise their hand at home without a therapist present. Participants first learn how to use the device at a clinic, then take it home to train on their own. The goal is to see if unsupervised home therapy can increase the amount of hand exercise patients get, which may improve recovery while reducing the need for constant therapist supervision.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ReHandyBot hand rehabilitation device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that unsupervised home robot therapy helps stroke survivors recover hand function with less burden on therapists and the healthcare system.
What could go wrong
This is a small exploratory study (40 people) focused on feasibility and dose, not on proving recovery. The device may be difficult to use at home, and results may not apply to all stroke patients.
